As the idyllic valley forms a part of the national park Hohe Tauern, the attempts of the mining companies to bring in big industrial operations have been stopped, leaving the possibility to find gold open for everybody. You can hire all the equipment needed and even take part of a gold washing course (Euro 6,-/per day) if you so choose.

The green stones, in your family jewellery could make this day memorable for generations to come. Mining operations in Habachtal, a wonderful valley, have successfully been operating since 1669.

As the mine is located in a difficult to reach location high in the mountains, it has never reached large industrial scale and left the valley undisturbed. A landslide year 2002 made it possible however, also for not experienced treasure hunters, to find their own emeralds further down in the valley.
